Leads planning and implementation of CDP’s social media strategy. Responsibilities include: (a) working with CDP offices to develop social media plans for long-term campaigns and emergent events; (b) monitor social media traffic in CDP’s areas of focus, providing CDP leadership with insights into audience interests and the performance of CDP’s messages; (c) communicating the activities and statements of CDP leadership on social media.
Specific duties and responsibilities:
- Maintain a consistent publishing schedule of content on CDP’s social media channel(s) LinkedIn, X, and YouTube.
- Develop social media toolkits, basic graphics, and other resources for State Department and U.S. interagency account managers to use when communicating on topics in CDP’s portfolio.
- Engage with followers and other accounts, in line with CDP’s social media strategy.
- Convene and facilitate discussions with CDP and U.S. interagency colleagues to plan social media campaigns on priority topics.
- Collect and analyze social media data pertaining to CDP campaigns and key topics. Present findings to CDP bureau leadership.
- In collaboration with the Digital Content Specialist, develop multimedia social media content.
- Establish relationships with other digital communications professionals in the U.S. government and beyond to strengthen CDP’s external partnerships.
- Communicate effectively verbally and in writing to all stakeholders including senior management and content developers.
- Participate in Strategic Planning and Communications Unit discussions on unit strategy and operations.
- Ensure an efficient two-way flow of information between CDP/SPC and other Department social media teams.
- Direct memoranda and other correspondence through appropriate channels, on time and in standard formats.
- Safeguard sensitive and privileged information in accordance with U.S. government regulations.
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- A Bachelor’s degree is required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the SECRET level.
- Demonstrated digital communications experience; digital and video editing experience also preferred.
- Knowledge of best practices for communicating using social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Experience communicating both orally and in writing to senior managers.
- Some familiarity with topics relevant to international cyberspace and digital policy.
- Fluency in modern technology collaboration tools including MS Teams, SharePoint, G Suite, O365; etc.
- Some familiarity with digital content creation software such as Canva, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Premiere / Final Cut Pro, or equivalents.
- Adaptability to work flexibly and efficiently in a rapidly changing environment.
- Demonstrated curiosity in continued learning and growth on the job.
- Openness to critique, curiosity to learn from a spectrum of perspectives, and experience or strong interest in collaborating closely with others.
